Low-cost ways to enact self care
Here is a list of some things that could support you in your personal self-care practice. Providing entry points for imperfect practice which can nourish in a way that feels manageable, and in a way that works for you. Featuring links to services provided by brown and black healers and practitioners:
Journal
Dance or move by yourself
Have a shower or a bath - whichever feels better for you (+ eat an orange while you’re there)
Touch your skin, hold it softly + breathe
Have a nap
Draw something that makes you smile (without judging yourself)
Pause and notice your breath
Write a letter to someone you love (+/or to yourself)
Take a gentle deep breath - breathing in for 4 counts, holding for 4 and out for 7
Stretch your body slowly + take up space
Try out a new class (free yoga class here, donation based Pranayama class)
Walk on grass bare foot or sit on a patch of grass
Identify + collect some herbs and make a tea (more info here + here)
Drink a large cold glass of water slowly
Map your current state of mind - draw a circle and fill it with what you’re feeling in this moment
Do a body flex + notice what feels good
Pick some wild flowers and arrange them
Read a book you’ve been meaning to start
Write or draw things you’re grateful for
Attend an event that feels supportive
If you like to meditate, meditate
Listen to a track that makes you feel sexy (for me it’s this)
Call a friend
Slow down, try to do one thing at a time
