FAQs

What is a full spectrum doula?

A full spectrum doula is a person who offers emotional, physical and practical educational support for people moving through major life transitions. Full spectrum refers to supporting the spectrum of reproductive experiences - this can include but isn't limited to pregnancy, abortion, miscarriage, birth, surrogacy, adoption, postpartum and loss. A full spectrum support person recognises that we all have different lived experience and therefore may need different types of support when navigating life transitions. What does a postpartum doula offer?

The postpartum begins after birth and continues for the rest of a persons life. The initial postpartum period looks different for everyone. i'm here to support you in whatever way you need - whether that's helping you to plan for the initial postpartum period, offering resources so you feel informed, running you a soothing bath, cooking a nourishing meal, sitting with you and listening to what's going on for you, discussing your birth and postpartum healing or just offering an extra set of hands around the house - i'm here to meet you where you are at whilst you settle into parenthood, find a new rhythm with a larger family or are navigating loss.

How do I book you as my doula?

Booking me is simple. Take a look at the packages I offer then you can book a free consultation call with me here. At the consultation, you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions and we’ll see if we’re the right fit for each other. Once you confirm if you would like us to work together I'll send a contract over to you to sign and an invoice to pay your deposit. Once I’ve received both I am booked for you!

How do I choose the right doula for me?

When looking to find the right doula for you I recommend thinking about what support you're seeking and what is important to you. If you're not sure what you want it can be helpful to ask your friends, family and community about what they found helpful during pregnancy and postpartum. Then when it comes to finding the right doula for you, search your local area directories - a few i recommend are Queer Doula Network, BADT Directory and Abuela Doulas Directory. Find a few you like the sound of and request a consultation or initial interview. Before the interview it can be helpful to draft some questions - here are some that could be a good start. Then go with your gut and follow what feels right for you.

What is not included in doula support?

Doulas are not medical professionals. Therefore, Doulas don't give medical advice or diagnosis. Doulas don't make decisions for the client, however they are there to offer judgement-free information so that you can make informed decisions.
